(Sponsored Content -- ) Uber drivers, in general, say they prefer driving for the company compared to other gig economy jobs for a variety of reasons.

For some it is the flexibility, others the higher income. Many also enjoy the ease of the job and extra time for family.

"Uber is way easier, way less stress," said Darnell Tillett, a part-time Uber driver from North Jersey, New Jersey. "When you drive with Uber and you have people in the car, you have conversations with them. And that's if they want to talk, a lot of times they ask the question. The first thing you do is ask a question – what makes you drive Uber? And that's the opportunity I get to tell my story. To me it’s just, it's therapeutic when people are talking to you and that's just much easier than being a bouncer. Trust me, I speak from experience."

According to a 2018 Gallup poll, 36% of U.S. workers are doing gig work in some capacity. Gallup also reported that 64% of gig workers preferred their alternative work arrangement.

"Independent gig workers (such as online platform workers and independent contractors) experience high levels of work-life balance, flexibility, autonomy, meaningful feedback and creative freedom. In fact, they score much higher on all these factors compared with traditional workers and other types of gig workers," the 2018 Gallup poll stated.

In particular, independent gig workers were rated as being much more satisfied than temporary and on-call employees. In the Freelancing in America: 2019 survey of 6,000 U.S. workers, 79% of full-time and 73% of part-time freelance workers joined due to having a flexible schedule in working days and hours of their choosing. Gallup cites the gig economy as empowering workers and promoting personal entrepreneurship.
